Mandolins

I used to say I was athiest, but of course, all people who actually say they ARE athiests are actually ones with closed minds and attitudes.

Even if there is no God to believe in, why do so many millions of people find a God, and why do they practice daily rituals.

Honestly, In our commercialised world there is no place for religion. Anyone who is religious is gay of course. In our country, there are a few places where Christianity is still strong but in the towns and cities?

How many people do you know that actually go to church every sunday?
How many times this week have you prayed...

And I don't mean how many times have you actually prayed with your hands clasped and saying Amen at the end, I mean, fingers crossed screaming "please, God" in your head?

Probably a lot. We are all believers. We need to believe there is something bigger, something better beyond this world, this life. For Christians it's Heaven, for Muslims it's Paradise. Religions just show again that humans seek something to believe in, something to turn to.

Of course, In the UK, barely anyone practises the rules anymore. Sure, you have a bible, a children's illustrated one? I wouldn't say that being fed religious views from a young age, learning to read with books based around biblical stories is fair, but each country does it, each family does it. This has made the bible seem like children's stories, teaching morals and independence.

Of course, the bible does teach these things, but it teaches us how to be good, a sense of right and wrong, and we all know there's rebellion, hate and hopelessness in the world, we need a sense ourselves.

I'm not even religious, really, I want to be in a way, I feel that I am sometimes, I pray sometimes that the people I care about are safe, but do I actually go to church? Sure, we as a nation, celebrate Christmas and Easter, and our calendar is based around the Christian Calendar but:

Christmas = presents
Easter = sweets
Lent = only for christians
Shrove Tuesday = Pancakes

This isn't the christian religion, this is the western world, all our beliefs are commercialised and ridiculed, it's just humanity, but here it isn't.

We also ridicule other religions. How about Islam?

I'm not saying I support terrorism here, but SERIOUSLY? You're going to be prejudiced and discriminative against millions of people because of extremists!?

And did you know that most of the people who wear turbans are Sikh anyway?

Do you know the difference between Sikh and Muslim?

I know that my friends reading this will know, because they aren't ignorant towards this.

There are around 2 billion followers of Christianity, and 1.6 Billion followers of Islam. Are you either of these religions? Probably not.

Athiests, a lot of my colleagues have declared themselves as being athiest, but most of them just don't want to show that they believe in God. I feel a lack of belief is ruining the western world, and yes we do have the freedom to drink and smoke and get pregnant and say what we like and marry who we like, but this does also tie us down.

Please, Ignorance is not an excuse, racism and anti-religion attitudes shouldn't be a part of this country.

Rant over :L
